What is a chakra? The word chakra emanates from sanskrit, meaning wheel, and it indicates an energetic center similar to a vortex, located in a specific area of the body. There are hundreds of chakras but seven are those of most importance. Each one of them has a specific purpose and influence in an area of our life and a corrispondence in our physical body. Indeed the chakras are a match for the glands of the body. Since everything is one at the most basic level and at the highest level, each one of them is not only an individual center but also collective. Each wheel has the purpose to speed up or slow down the energies that we recieve in order to calibrate them. Each one is also a bridge to the corrispondent dimension, so for example the root chakra, the first, links to dimension one, the sacral to dimension two the solar plexus to dimension three and so on. They are recievers and transimitters of information/light. In order to open and blance them we can use many methods.
One of the most efficent method we can use to activate them and even to keep them healthy are binaural beats. When we listen to two pure tones with a difference of frequency between them, for example 400hz in the right ear and 430hz in the left ear, we experience an illusion of a third sound called binaural beat. They have a powerful healing effect on us on all levels, they are known to induce expanded levels of conscousness and deep states of meditation really quickly. Even simply listening to the specific frequency of the chakra that we want to heal is also effective or listening to songs, melodies that contain that particular frequency.
In the Yoga tradition we are taught about the subtle body or energy body, and of chakras as the connecting points between the nadiis, the energetic pathways. Prana is the universal life force that flows into and throgh them. Yoga asanas are used to open up the energetic centers and of course each asana has a specific effet working on a specific chakra. Relaxation tecniques like Yoga help us to be more mindful and at peace.
Crystals and stones have been used in healing practices for thousands of years all around the world and in many different cultures. Each crystal has, of course, a frequency and a color that are a match for the chakra that we want to treat. Moreover they have particular metaphysical and spiritual proprieties. Some may help as a psychic defense, some in bringing aboundance and others to connect with spiritual guides and angels. They are an highly reccomended tool along with energy healing methods such as Reiki, which in my opininon is the most effective help you can give to your energy body.
Chants are sacred sounds that have an effect on our chakras. The most known is the "Ohm" but of course there are several others. When we chant we give to our chakra the possibility to expand and open.
Let's see the chakras in detail now. Also notice that in this guide are not included other 5 important vortexes locted outside the body, for a total of twelve.

This chakra is located at the base of the spine in the perineum area and is associated with the adrenal glands. Within it is located and coiled the Kundalini, the sacred serpent of fire. An electric like current that energizes the body, flowing along our vertebral column from the botom, up into the crown chakra. It is a very important energy that when activated triggers the awakening, opens further all the chakras dissolving the energy blocks within them. It's color is red, with a frequency of 396hz. It influences our basic 3D life issues like survival, fear, carreer, finances but also it gives us groundedness and a sense of belonging and stbility. If it is unbalanced, we may experience many fears, we can be insecure and self centred. The physical symptoms can be digestive or elimination problems. The chant for this chakra is "LAM." We can use stones like the Red Jasper, Black obsidian, Fire Agate, Black toumarine. Since food it's energy it has an effect on our subtle body too, the higher the frequency of the food we eat, the healthier we will be on all levels. The root chakra has everything to do with our foundations, with the Earth element so what grows in it helps. Beet, radishes, potatoes to name just a few and basically all the red, unprocessed food.

Unbalance can resoult in confusion, self doubt, jelaousy, erection problems but also in a block of our artistic skills because this is the center of creativity. It's main effects are on our personal power, self esteem and self confidence but also on our capacity to live in freedom. This energy governs the digestive system, the liver and has a subtle effect on the muscolar, immunitary and nervose system. When it spins correctly we learn to set clearly defined boundaries, we are confident and secure. If it is unbalanced we can experience fatigue, stress, lack of will power or self esteem, feelings of unworthiness, anger, hate, victimhood and even digestive problems. It is very important to keep this chakra strong because it helps us to avoid to tap into the energy of those around us. The chant is "RAM" and the frequency you can listen to is 528hz. The heart chakra is located in the center of our chest. It's color is green and it's element is Air. Indeed, due to it's position governs our breathing sistem and even more important, allows the natural flow of energy into the body. It has effects, of course on our heart, the cyrculatory system and the thymus gland. The main function is to make us experience feelings of unconditional love, compassion and openness. Relationships are the main focus for this energy center. If it is unbalanced we may experience hate, jelaousy, unforgiveness, breathing problems, chest pain and cardiac conditions. This is also the bridge between our lower self and our Higher Self, between the lower and the higher chakras. If we want to acess the power and wisdom that comes with activating the higher energy centers then the heart must be open in order for the energy to flow upward. The main block that we have here is unforgiveness and past attachments. We have to heal the past pain and understand why we experienced all that in order to open up again our heart to other people. Emerald, Geen Calcite, Pink Rose Quartz are helpful stones for the heart chakra. For the chant we have "YAM" while the frequency of this center is 639hz. When it's unbalanced, on the other side, we have fear to express our ideas, lack of discernment, we feel that nobody cares for our opinions or we may think that we have nothing interesting to say. As physical symptoms we have fever, flu, thyroid problems. This chakra makes us a strong communicator both in the spoken and written word. The freqency for this chakra is 714hz and if you like to chant say "HAM!" Lapis Lazuli, Blue Calcite, Blue Kyanite, Aquamarine are used to heal the Vishuddi. The third eye chakra is located between the eyebrows and it has an indigo/purple color. This is the most well known chakra, maby for the mystery that envelops it and for the psycic abilities that it can grant us when it's activated. It is indeed associated with clairvoyance, for example. It governs the pineal gland but even the ears, the nose and the eyes. Spiritual awareness, the capacity to see beyond duality, intuition, insight are it's main functions. When it's balanced we experience clarity, heightened intelligence, concentration, we are inspired and guided by spirit. Unbalance can lead us to tension, visual problems, headaches, sleeping disorder or lack of concentration. To open this energy center we need to decalcify our pinieal gland first, then we need to activate it; we will speak more in depth about this. Sungazing, dourng sunset but even at dawn is very helpful. This chakra, like the heart, is associated with forgiveness and when we release our hatred a great energetic shift takes place in this area. The chant is "OHM/AUM" while the frequency you would listen is 852hz. Meditation is highly recommended for both the third eye and the crown chakra, it is the best way we have to open them if we don't consider energy healing. Sugilite, Kianite, Sodalite are just a few examples of the variety of crystals aviable. Purple cabbage, purple carrots can help to keep this center open, if we want to decalcify our pineal gland lemonade and also pineapple are a good tool. All elements combined, light.

This chakra is located on the top of the head, on the area of the fontanelle bone, not inside the body and facing out. Associated with the pitutary gland, the brain and the medulla oblongata. Self knowdlege, spiritual understanding, enlightenment, connection to God Source and the Higher Self are the areas governed by this center. When it is opened and blanced we are inspired, we trust and have a connection with an higher being (us). As consequence our spiritual awakening is faster and easyer. Experiencing the oneness of all things is the gift of the Sahasrara. If closed or unbalanced we experience headches, limiting beliefes, migraine, coordintion problems, confusion and even depression. It is very important to have an healthy crown chakra if we want to develop a real partnership and relationship with our Higher Self and our spirit guides and even with God itself. We have plenty of help aviable we only need to ask for it, connect, trust and take action accordingly. The frequency for the crown chakra is 936 hz and the chant is "AHH".
